Preparing your files for print
Image Resolution/Colour/Image Size
-
As a rule of thumb, scans should be done “size as” and resolution (dpi) should be 2 x line screen (lpi) i.e. Jobs running at 175 line should have a minimum of 350 dpi to achieve “true” resolution. Increasing resolution after scanning will not improve file quality but instead increase unnecessary file size.
Convert all RGB images to CMYK.
Convert spot colours to CMYK if job is running as process.
-
This will eliminate discrepancy from Pantone Colour conversion to CMYK. Some graphic applications and rips have different Pantone Tables, thus producing difference CMYK values. This will affect colour accuracy on our proofs.
Colour Correction
-
Your monitor cannot be used as a target, even if it’s calibrated. Every monitor is different and uses RGB colour space, which reflects light. Whereas printing uses CMYK and absorbs ink. Using our colour proofs will guarantee a close representation of the final printed piece.
-
We can do colour correction (charged at an hourly rate) but we will not colour correct a file to match a proof supplied by a client.
Our standard Rich black combination is: 40 cyan, 30 magenta, 10 yellow, 100 black.
